 Sheer Tint Redness Relief by Dermalogica is a three in one moisturiser which has the added benefit of sunscreen, specifically formulated for sensitive skin. In this day and age more and more people’s skin are becoming sensitive. 

This sensitive skin day time moisturiser is a must have product, especially in times of your skin flaring up and protecting it from more damage. 

What is Sheer Tint Redness Relief?

It’s a moisturiser especially formulated for rosacea, sensitized or sensitive skin conditions. The first thing what’s great about this product is it is actually has a green tint to help mask the redness on the skin which is sensitive or sensitized. 

The colour green helps camouflage and neutralise sensitivity on the skin, the green tint is from the natural earth minerals in the product, so keeping with dermalogica’s philosophy or not containing any artificial colours. 

 If you think that applying this to your skin is going to leave you looking like a green blob, think again the green pigment when applied to your skin will be only slightly visible, after being absorbed into your skin and you can apply your make up over the top. Besides the colour correcting properties of sheer tint redness relief it contains a sunscreen of SPF15, but the sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen (octinoxate, octisalate) not a natural sunscreen such as zinc or titanium dioxide. 

Why would dermalogica add a chemical sunscreen to this product?

It’s because chemical sunscreens have a lighter feel on the skin they are not as thick as zinc for example. A majority of rosacea sufferers have a lot of oil flow on their skin, so a lighter feel and texture is better for their skin. The sunscreen is also formulated with vitamin E to provide you with enhanced protection against free radicals and soothe the skin. 

So you now know that it reduces redness, protects against UV damage and is enhanced with vitamin E for extra protection but 

What about it calming and soothing properties?

Let me explain and get into the good stuff… 

When your skin becomes inflamed/irritated be it from UV radiation, pollution, smoke, harsh products, etc, injury occurs to the skin free radicals form and trigger the inflammation process. Your skin (bless it) tries to battle and protect itself by immediately sending white blood cells to the damaged or inflamed area. 

The trouble is to get the white blood cells to get to the inflammation as quick as possible, they destruct any collagen or elastin fibres in it’s path. This leads to more inflammation (due to the irritation and damage of the collagen and elastin fibres) but ultimately accelerates the ageing process.
